What is Massage Possible?
I believe that all people should have the right to receive the health benefits of Massage Therapy. Sadly, many do not have the ability to pay for it. I have never been comfortable with that. Therefore, while fulfilling my professional responsibilities as a Massage Therapist I do my best to serve all people, no matter what their economic status may be.
How does Massage Possible work?
You simply pay a small percentage of my Standard Treatment Rates. If you have a lower household income (which I consider to be a household income below $40,000.00 per year) you can participate in "Massage Possible."
How do I confirm your income?
I can confirm this through the Total Income line(s) on your latest Notice(s) of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency or simply see your individual or family pay stub(s) to estimate your household income. All I ask is that you represent your household income honestly so that as many people as possible can benefit.
If you have a partner contributing to your household income, you obviously have an advantage that those living alone do not have. If that combined income level is still low, the bonus is your household members can use of the same discounted rate for massage if they wish.
Why can't I just take your word for it, that your income is actually a lower income?
If a client was to try and take advantage of my program, while having an income sufficient to pay more than my geared to income rates, it would lessen my financial ability to open up other geared to income spaces for others who truly need them. I must maintain the health of my practice, in order to continue to help others in this way. Pay what you can but please consider the needs of everyone.
"What if I am uncomfortable sharing my financial information?"
According to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), I must keep your personal information secure and strictly confidential. It can only be shared with your expressed, informed, written, consent, unless otherwise required by law.
Whether to participate is entirely up to you. I have the ethical, and legal, responsibility to ensure that all of your personal information remains private and secure. I do not keep a record of your household income. I simply take note of it and hand your information back to you.
